We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our alumni student, Matilda Percival! 🏐✨

Matilda recently represented NSW in the U/19s team at the National Netball Championships, where her team were crowned champions after an outstanding undefeated tournament – an incredible accomplishment!

Her success doesn’t stop there. Matilda has also been selected in the U/19 National Squad, a significant step in the national talent pathway, recognising her as one of the next generation of elite netballers in Australia.

To top it off, she has been chosen for the Giants Academy, further highlighting her dedication, talent, and bright future in the sport.
Well done, Matilda! We can’t wait to see all that you continue to achieve 🏐✨

We would love any of our valued Alumni to attend our official opening ceremony for L Block!

Oliver and Jesper Barrett, both former students of Maitland Christian School, have already made remarkable strides in the equestrian world. Oliver graduated in 2022, while Jesper completed his Year 11 studies in 2025. Their parents, Craig and Prue Barrett, graciously welcomed me to their property, where I had the privilege of speaking with their talented sons about their equestrian achievements.
Just this past week, Oliver reached an impressive milestone, topping the FEI World Eventing Young Riders Rankings and securing third place in the World Under 25 Rankings.
Prue shared her perspective on the sport, describing it as a journey of highs and lows—what she calls its “swings and roundabouts.” A horse may struggle one week, only to deliver a personal best at the next competition.
Oliver embodies humility and dedication. Where he strives for excellence in all conditions—whether hot, smoky, dusty, raining or windy—and his commitment is evident in his daily routine. Mornings begin at a racing stable, followed by long hours working with horses for the family business. His grounded nature and resilience shine through, even on the toughest days.
It’s no surprise that Oliver and Jesper are known as quiet achievers. They steadily refine their skills away from the spotlight, not for accolades, but because they recognize their God-given gift to train and ride horses.
Both brothers expressed how blessed they feel to have parents deeply involved in the sport. Together, the family manages the demanding tasks of feeding, watering, exercising, washing, rugging, and preparing horses to perform at their best.
Most of the horses they compete with are bred on their property—a mix of Thoroughbred and Warmblood cross horses, alongside a few Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds brought in for training.
Oliver also reflected on his time at Maitland Christian School, where his woodwork teacher, Mr. Trad, taught and inspired his woodwork skills. Since graduating, Oliver has built five cross-country jumps at home, which now form part of his training routine.
Though they work in the same industry, Oliver and Jesper each bring their own passion and dedication to the sport. Their journey is a testament to perseverance, humility, and faith. Our prayer is that they continue to walk in God’s calling on their lives and, ‘do all for God’s glory’.

🎉 Alumni Spotlight – Tyler! 🎉
We are so proud of our former student Tyler, who has received a CONDA nomination for Excellence in Audio Visual Multimedia and Projection for Robin Hood and His Merry Men with Maitland Repertory Theatre. He also received a nomination for Best Production for the same show, which he directed.
On top of this, Tyler created his own original production, The Last 25 Years, a musical celebration of the past 25 years of Broadway. He produced, directed, musical directed, researched, compered and performed in the show — an incredible effort that’s now up against some tough competition!
What an outstanding achievement from such a talented and hardworking young creative. Congratulations, Tyler! 🌟
