Our culture has spent decades telling us freedom means removing boundaries from desire.

If you want it...

If it feels authentic...

If everyone consents...

why should anyone tell you no?

But Christianity begins somewhere completely different.

Not:

“What can I get away with?”

But:

“What was I made for?”

Scripture makes an astonishing claim about your body.

Your body isn’t meaningless.

It isn’t a commodity.

It isn’t merely biological machinery.

And it isn’t something God is embarrassed by.

It is sacred.

Jesus took on a body.

Jesus gave His body.

Jesus rose bodily.

And God’s Spirit makes His home in His people.

Maybe God’s boundaries around s*x don’t exist because He thinks too little of our bodies.

Maybe they exist because He thinks far more of them than we do.

Your actual calendar.

When do you work?

When do you stop?

When are you fully present with your family?

When are you present with God?

When does your mind actually become quiet?

And what rhythm are the people around you learning from you?

Our culture seems to offer two options.

Hustle.

Work harder.
Build more.
Sleep less.
Monetise everything.
Never stop.

Or:

Check out.

Do the minimum.
Stop caring.
Protect yourself.
Give nothing more than necessary.

What if both are broken?

God created work before humanity fell.

Work isn’t the enemy.

And God created rest before humanity needed rescuing.

Rest isn’t laziness.

The Kingdom gives us a third way.

Work from worth — not for worth.

Work with purpose.

Rest without guilt.

Then work again.

A rhythm sustainable enough to carry for a lifetime.

There is another way.

One hour.No work.No productivity.No scrolling.No content.Nothing to achieve.Nothing to prove.Just stop.Sit with God.Sit ...

No scrolling.

No content.

Nothing to achieve.

Nothing to prove.

Just stop.

Sit with God.

Sit with your family.

Walk.

Eat slowly.

Pray.

Be silent.

And pay attention to what happens inside you when you stop producing.

Does it make you uncomfortable?

Restless?

Guilty?

Does your hand automatically reach for your phone?

That resistance may reveal exactly what Sabbath is beginning to heal.

We automated the washing.

Automated the dishes.

Put banking in our pockets.

Groceries on our phones.

Meetings online.

Entertainment on demand.

AI can now do in seconds what once took hours.

Human beings have never had more technology designed to save time.

And somehow...

we still don’t have any.

We optimise sleep so we can perform better.

Turn hobbies into side hustles.

Answer messages from bed.

Take work on holidays.

And carry the whole world around in our pocket.

Then God gives humanity an extraordinary command:

Stop.

Not because everything is finished.

Not because you’ve earned it.

Because you are not a machine.

And you are not a slave.

Maybe one of God’s oldest commands is exactly what our exhausted modern world needs.

There is another way.

There is a gift from God sitting unopened in the lives of many Christians.Sabbath.For some, the word sounds restrictive....

There is a gift from God sitting unopened in the lives of many Christians.

Sabbath.

For some, the word sounds restrictive.

Religious.

Outdated.

But Jesus said:

“The Sabbath was made for man.”

Made for you.

Before there was a temple, God made time holy.

And when Israel came out of slavery, God commanded them to stop working.

Because slaves don't get a day off.

Free people do.

Sabbath as freedom.

Sabbath as trust.

Jesus was effectively asked that question.

His response?

Love God with everything.

Love your neighbour as yourself.

Then He said something extraordinary:

Everything else hangs on these.

We have more ways to connect than any generation in history.

And yet we’re lonely.

Divided.

Quick to outrage.

Quick to label.

Quick to cut people off.

Our culture talks constantly about love — but increasingly defines love as affirmation, attraction or a feeling we have toward people who make us feel good.

Jesus offers something much harder.

And much better.

Love God.

Love your neighbour.

Not just the neighbour who agrees with you.

Not just the person you naturally like.

Not just when you feel loving.

Because in the Kingdom, love isn’t merely something you feel.

It’s something you do.

This Saturday we begin a brand-new series at Kingdom Church:

Three years ago today, families were torn apart by the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel.

Christians should be able to name evil clearly, mourn Jewish suffering sincerely and still refuse hatred toward Palestinians. Compassion does not require moral confusion, and truth does not require cruelty.

Scripture calls us to weep with those who weep, speak truth and pursue what makes for peace.

Today we remember those who were murdered, honour those who still carry the wounds, stand against antisemitism and pray for every innocent person living beneath the shadow of this conflict.

Take one quiet minute today to pray for grieving families, traumatised communities and a just peace for the Jewish People.

This Saturday, we’re welcoming Dr Tas Walker from Creation Ministries International to KINGDOM.

And the question at the heart of the morning is a big one:

Can we trust the Bible from the very first verse?

Tas will be sharing a powerful, illustrated presentation on Genesis, Geology & God’s Kingdom, looking at the biblical account of origins and the evidence we see in the world around us.

Creation Ministries International has spent decades helping Christians think seriously about these questions — and helping families build confidence that their faith does not require them to ignore evidence or stop asking difficult questions.
