On 8th August, St Paul’s and St Alphonsa Syro-Malabar parishes united in energy to support, donate, make sockballs and participate in Catholic Mission Socktober Parish ⚽️ Tournament to fundraise for rebuilding a school in Malawi.

The Diocese of Darwin raised over $2000 to contribute towards Malawi Children’s Mission.

Thank you to all players for your, love, courage and giving the SOCKBALL a good kick! Our parishes took home TWO MISSION CUP TROPHIES 😊👏

What a wonderful evening of celebration, reflection and gratitude as we gathered in honour of Fr John Kelliher MSC and the blessing of his 50 years in priestly ministry. We thank Fr John for saying yes to his vocation call and for the generosity he has shown in carrying out this mission.

Tonight allowed us all to celebrate together with Fr John, his family and Priest brothers. A huge thanks to the Parish Pastoral Council for coordinating such a wonderful celebration!

Happy Golden Jubilee of Priestly Ordination Fr John Kelliher MSC!

We celebrate today the 50th anniversary of the priestly ordination of Fr. John Kelliher MSC (Missionaries of the Sacred Heart), Parish Priest of St Paul's Catholic Church, Nightcliff, NT.

Over these many years, Fr. John has served in numerous parishes and ministries across our Diocese, continuing the long and rich tradition of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in serving God's people throughout the Northern Territory.

Fr. John is also a gifted spiritual director and a wonderful pastor, particularly in his one-to-one ministry. Many people seek him out for guidance, pastoral care, and support in their spiritual lives, and he continues to make himself generously available to them.

On this wonderful milestone of his Golden Jubilee, we thank God for Fr. John, for his 50 years of priestly ministry, and for his generous and faithful service to God and God's people within our Diocese.

You are warmly invited to join us for a special Memorial Service as we remember those who have died while experiencing homelessness, stand in solidarity with those who continue to face homelessness, and give thanks for the many individuals and organisations who walk alongside them with compassion and care.

This time of prayer and reflection offers an opportunity to honour every person's dignity, remember lives that should never be forgotten, and renew our shared commitment to hope, justice, and community.
