Cross as it journeyed through our community. In this Jubilee year, the presence of the Cross invited us to pause, reflect, and renew our commitment to faith, compassion, and solidarity with one another. As Pilgrims of Hope, we were reminded that our faith calls us to walk together, especially alongside those who are displaced, vulnerable, or seeking welcome.
Our College community, richly diverse and grounded in faith, embraced both the Cross and all that it symbolises: hope amid challenge, unity across cultures, and Godโs abiding presence among us. A prayerful liturgy was celebrated in the de Sales Library and Resource Centre, led by Deacon Patrick Moore. This sacred gathering space became a place of quiet encounter, reverence, and prayer, offering students and staff the opportunity to reflect deeply on the Jubilee call to journey together in hope.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the many staff and students whose generosity and care made this liturgy possible. In particular, we thank our Grounds and Maintenance Team for preparing the space; our IT Team for their valued audio-visual support; and our Library staff for their assistance and hospitality. We also thank the student readers from the College and St Emilieโs Catholic Primary School and all who participated with such reverence throughout our time of prayer.
We were privileged to listen to Deacon Greg Lowe, Director of the Western Australian Catholic Migrant Refugee Office and Delegate of the Pilgrimage of the Migrant Jubilee Cross in the Archdiocese of Perth; Mr Neil Alweyn, School Improvement Advisor from Catholic Education WA; Mrs Melissa Trolio, Formation for Mission Consultant from Catholic Education WA; and members of the Catholic Youth Ministry Team, who continue to guide the pilgrimage of the Cross throughout the Archdiocese. A special word of thanks is extended to Mr Chris Burns, Principal, and the staff and students at Saint Emilieโs Catholic Primary School for joining us in prayer and fellowship.
The Migrant Jubilee Cross offered students and staff the opportunity for quiet reflection and personal prayer. We are deeply grateful for the spirit of unity, faith, and hope that was evident throughout the dayโreminding us that pilgrimage is not only a journey we walk, but a way of living together in Christ.
