This morning the Choir sang ‘Wood in the Phryg’ and Byrd’s gorgeous Ave, Verum Corpus for the 9:30am Eucharist. This evening, a quartet will sing Philip Moore’s Third Service and Nolo Mortem Peccatoris by Thomas Morley, for Evensong at 5pm.

This Sunday, 8 February, the Fifth Sunday after Epiphany, a quartet from St Paul’s Choir will sing Hassler’s Missa Secunda and Viadana’s Exsultate Justi at the 9:30am Choral Eucharist.

At Choral Evensong at 5pm, St Paul’s Choir will sing Stanford in B flat and Rutter’s Clare Benediction.

Sussan Ley, Leader of the Opposition, on Tuesday morning. Mr Albanese described the choir as “absolutely delightful” and “wonderful young people” (but we already knew this, of course).

Today, Sunday 1 February, we observe Candlemas, the Presentation of Christ in the Temple, when Mary and Joseph took the infant Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem 40 days after his birth to complete Mary's ritual purification after childbirth, and to perform the redemption of the firstborn son, in obedience to the Torah.

At 9:30am, St Paul’s Junior Choir will sing Rutter’s The Lord bless you and keep you, which they will also sing for a service for the opening of the parliamentary year this Tuesday morning. There will also be blessing of backpacks this morning as children prepare to start school this week.

At 5pm, Choral Evensong recommences after a summer hiatus. St Paul’s Choir sings Batten’s Fourth Service and Eccard’s magnificent anthem, When to the temple Mary went.

On Sunday 25 January at 9:30am, St Paul’s Choir and Orchestra will present Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G for our patronal festival celebration, the Conversion of St Paul. Bishop Mark Short will commission the Rev Dr Catherine Reid as she commences ministry in our parish, having freshly arrived from York this week.

Choral Evensong will recommence on Sunday 1 February.
