Equipped to Stand (Ephesians 6:10-20)


The letter to the Ephesian Church presents really practical advice to Christians and covers a huge gamut. Here we are exhorted to STAND, equipped and clothed by God.


Our starting point (v10) is to acknowledge that God is indeed strong and powerful and to choose to live and be equipped by HIm. This is an act of humble submission. Lord, you are God and we are not!

Equipped For Relationship
Midweek Devotion from Jenny

The letter to the Ephesians presents a beautiful picture of Christian community including what it looks like at the most basic level - our fundamental relationships.
We are to mutually submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. It's not just a What would Jesus do thing. It's so much more, this mutual submission is something we can only do when we allow God to work through us. It's God breathed and enabled and we cooperate.
But it's not always easy...

Equipped For God's Mission
Week 3 Midweek Devotion from Jenny

Through Jesus we have been given this wonderful gift. Quite rightly we cherish it, protect it, nurture it and seek to grow in it.
But, if that's all we are doing we miss the point. Jesus is sending us out.
We are to go out even to people that seem unlikely potential Christians. We are to teach, love and baptise as we are equipped by God...

Today is our final day of this time of prayer & fasting but our journey of repentance continues

Bible readings: Deuteronomy 30 & Hebrews 12:14-29.

I wonder how many decisions we make during a normal day.

Today in our decisions, do we honour God with our time, our body, our thoughts, our love? Or are we making the other (sinful ) choice?

Choose to invite God into every decision.

Are you willing to work with God to dismantle the sinful habits of your lifetime & discover the real God-breathed you? Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

We encourage you to continue this journey of repentance. Listen carefully to God each day & repent, turning away from sin & towards God.

Day 6 - journey of repentance

Bible reading 2 Tim 2:8-26

Have you ever restored something or watched something being restored?

The restorer sees beautiful possibilities in things that look like they have no useful life. The process is long. Layers & layers of accumulated dirt & debris are removed & eventually something new, wonderful & useful emerges.

God wants to restore us. Are you willing to co-operate?

Day 5 of the journey to repentance

Bible reading: Jonah 3-4 & 2 Cor 7:8-16

We live in a gossip culture. The internet is full of rumours & judgement about people. Are we willing to love others with God's heart & celebrate their repentance?

Day 4

Bible readings: Luke 19:1-10 & 15:1-10

I love to knit & written codes transformed into wearable items.

But the path isn't always smooth. Mistake happen. They can't be hidden. The work needs to be unpicked & restarted. Horrible!

When we realise we have done wrong, we have a choice to try to cover up or bring things to God in repentance. We also face facts - that our actions have caused pain.

Zacchaeus realised his actions had caused pain & hardship. He followed Jesus & in repentance, his dishonesty stopped & he made restitution. And Jesus celebrated!

What is God revealing to you? Pray, allowing God to show you His way forward.

Day 3

Bible reading: Phil 2:1-18, Ps 46 & Heb 12:1-3

Let's spend today fixing our eyes on Jesus & worshipping Him.

Spend time being still before God & allow the journey of repentance to continue, for God to bring to light situations & choices where we placed ourselves & other things above Jesus.

Are you willing to truly turn away and repent?
