Bhutanese Buddhist & Cultural Center Canberra The Bhutanese Buddhist and Cultural Centre, registered as Druk Namgyel Chhoeling Buddhist centre inc. the 70th Je Khenpo of Bhutan.

Established in 2017 with the blessings of the Central Monastic Body of Bhutan (Zhung Dratshang), the BBCC Canberra is dedicated to preserving Bhutanese culture, fostering Buddhist values, and supporting the Bhutanese community. Australia (DNC) is an incorporated ecumenical Bhutanese Buddhist and cultural centre established under the aegis of H.H. Its core mission is to provide spiritual services t

o the Bhutanese people living in Canberra and to preserve Bhutan national identity in foreign land. These services include private household rituals, organized group teaching and practices, and engagement programmes for children and elderlies including the teaching of Bhutanese language and culture. Objectives
BBCC aka DNC will also work with the RBE, Canberra, ABAC, and other Bhutanese organizations to promote opportunities for the Bhutanese people to maintain their continued ties with our culture and tradition through regularly organizing important national occasions like His Majesty’s Birthday, Birthday of His Majesty the Fourth King, the National Day, and other such significant events. As a spiritual and cultural centre, DNC will also organize ceremonies on important Buddhist and other auspicious days according to the Bhutanese calendar. One of the key objectives of DNC is to work with the RBE, ABAC, and other Bhutanese religious and community organizations in Canberra to initiate a project to build a suitable and ecumenical Bhutanese temple and cultural centre. This Buddhist infrastructure will enable DNC and other community organizations in Canberra to achieve their core missions of ensuring welfare and harmony in the Bhutanese community. It will also serve as a platform for Bhutan and the Bhutanese people to engage with the wider multicultural community in Canberra, Australia’s great capital city.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of our Monthly Tara and Menlha Dungdrup.

This marks the tenth consecutive monthly prayer gathering, and we are deeply thankful to all who came together in prayer and practice for global peace and the wellbeing of all sentient beings.

On this auspicious occasion of the sacred appeasement ritual dedicated to Gyenyen Jakpa Melen, held on the 29th Day of the Fourth Lunar Month during the Holy Month, the Bhutanese community extends its heartfelt gratitude to our generous Jindas (sponsors), Singay and Sonam’s Family.

Through your kindness, devotion, and generous support, this sacred gathering was made possible. Auspiciously observed on the 29th Day of the Fourth Lunar Month, in the Year of the Fire Tiger (2026), during the Holy Month.

The Bhutanese community came together to conduct the sacred appeasement ritual of Gyenyen Jakpa Melen, a revered protector whose presence and blessings have long been honored within Bhutanese spiritual heritage.

With deep faith and gratitude, offerings and prayers were made for the protection of the people, the removal of obstacles, the increase of merit, and the peace and prosperity of all beings. May the blessings of Jakpa Melen continue to safeguard the community and uphold the sacred traditions passed down through generations.

Invitation to Pel Yeshi Goem Tongtsho and Goem Duchen Observance:

A day-long Pel Yeshi Goem Tongtsho (དཔལ་ཡེ་ཤེས་མགོན་པོ་ལྕམ་དྲལ་འཁོར་དང་བཅས་པའི་སྟོང་ཚོགས་) will take place on Sunday, 14 June 2026, at the Centre, coinciding with the 29th day of the 4th month of the Bhutanese calendar, which is observed as Goem Duchen. This Tongtsho is being arranged as a rimdro for the well-being of all Bhutanese community members and is coordinated and sponsored by Singye and Sonam’s family.

This is the third consecutive year that this important occasion has been sponsored and observed by this generous family. On their behalf, we cordially invite all community members to join us at the Centre and participate in the prayers and offerings.

REMINDER: Monthly Tara and Menlha Tshogkhor Tomorrow

A Tara and Menlha Tshogkhor is organised every month for the well-being, harmony, and spiritual benefit of all sentient beings, and to promote Pelden Drukpai Chhoedang Lamsuel.

While coordinated by the BBCC Droenchoe Group, this Tshogkhor is open to all community members and interested devotees. Everyone is warmly invited to participate in the recitation of Jetsun Drolma (Tara) and Sangay Menlha (Medicine Buddha) prayers.

The recitation of Tara and Medicine Buddha prayers is believed to bring protection, remove obstacles, promote healing and well-being, and accumulate merit for the benefit of all beings.

Everyone is warmly welcome to join.
