Canterbury College’s Cranmer House rallied behind the Cancer Council Queensland Ponytail Project through this year’s Rock the Chop fundraiser.

The student-led service initiative saw students demonstrate courage, compassion, and a strong commitment to helping others, with many choosing to donate their hair. The wider college community also got behind the cause, contributing generously to fundraising efforts.

Together, Canterbury raised more than $17,800 to support the Cancer Council’s vital cancer research, prevention initiatives, and support services for people and families affected by cancer, demonstrating the powerful impact young people can make when a community comes together for a shared cause.

(Flinders) has commenced construction of its new Strength and Conditioning (S&C) Centre as part of a reinvigorated Sports Precinct to be delivered through the College Master Plan.

The purpose-built environment will support students to train safely, develop confidence and pursue their personal best, making it a vibrant centrepiece at Flinders. The facility will also enable the college to leverage the potential presented by the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The college is partnering with Wilson Architects and builders Integral Construction. Construction commenced in June, with completion anticipated in March 2027.

Designed as an extension of the current Sports Centre, the S&C Centre will overlook the school’s magnificent sports field, the Anthony Vincent Oval.

After three consecutive Queensland titles, Cannon Hill Anglican College's Year 10 da Vinci Decathlon team has again proven itself among Australia’s academic elite.

The team returned from the National da Vinci Decathlon in Sydney, held during the Winter term break, with top-three finishes in five disciplines.

Regarded as one of Australia’s most demanding academic competitions, the decathlon challenges students across ten disciplines including Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Cartography, and Code-Breaking.

Competing against some of the nation’s strongest schools at Knox Grammar School, the 10 member team claimed the National Science championship for the second consecutive year. It also secured second place in Mathematics, Engineering and Cartography, along with third place in Code-Breaking.

Over the mid-year school holidays, All Souls St Gabriels School (ASSG) students proudly travelled to Brisbane to compete in the QISSN Netball and QISSRL Rugby League competitions, taking on some of the best school sporting teams from across Queensland.

The scale of the events was impressive, with 100 teams competing in netball and 72 teams taking to the field in rugby league. Over five days, thousands of student-athletes, coaches and supporters came together for intense competition, camaraderie and sportsmanship.

With multiple games played each day, the carnival was a true test of skill, stamina and determination.

Several ASSG students were recognised with Player of the Match awards. The ASSG netball team played valiantly, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and school spirit, while the boys’ rugby league team fought their way into the finals.

Toowoomba Anglican School’s Kindergarten has further solidified its reputation as one of the best Kindergarten programs in Queensland with its recent appraisal from the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority.

During a recent National Quality Standard (NQS) assessment, TAS Kindergarten received an overall rating of exceeding and was rated exceeding across all seven quality areas.

This achievement means that TAS Kindergarten has maintained an Exceeding NQS since its inception.

TAS Principal Nick Johnstone said the result was a fitting assessment of TAS’ Kindergarten program.

“Our Kindergarten has long held a reputation of being among the very best in the region and in Queensland,” Mr Johnstone said.

“To see our program maintain this standard since inception is a credit to our Head of Primary Pam Stains, our Director of Kindergarten Jenna Goleby and our entire Kindy team.”

Whitsunday Anglican School continues to expand its Medical Pathways Programme, providing students with authentic experiences, exposure and support for careers in medicine. As part of the programme, students recently completed an ethics course exploring professionalism, confidentiality, autonomy, and ethical decision-making in healthcare settings.

The school has also partnered with Mackay Hospital and Health Service to provide research placements through the Mackay Institute of Research and Innovation during term breaks. Two students recently completed placements during the April holidays, gaining insight into clinical research, data analysis, innovation, and research communication while working alongside health professionals and researchers.

The initiative strengthens pathways between secondary education and the health sector.
