Just a brief recap - Acts 12:12–18, the church was gathered in earnest prayer for Peter, who had been imprisoned by Herod. In a miraculous answer to their prayers, an angel freed Peter from prison during the night. Peter went straight to the house where believers were praying. When Rhoda, a servant girl, recognised his voice at the door, she was so excited that she forgot to let him in! The believers struggled to believe the good news, even though they had been praying for it.

“Peter’s story burst beyond the walls of the church to the gatherings of those who did not yet believe. The witness of the early church was neither calculated nor strategic, but was simply the fruit of the collective lives of God’s people lived boldly and humbly before a watching world.” (Lectio 365)

One Saviour. One Spirit. One Mission.

We’ll sing some old songs. We’ll learn some new songs. We’ll celebrate familiar traditions and discover fresh expressions of worship.

Disciples in Mission isn’t about looking back—it’s about gathering God’s people to step forward together.

Reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

Different cultures. Different generations. Different stories.

One Christ.

Come and experience the diversity, passion, and mission of The Salvation Army across Queensland as we worship, learn, and grow together.

Rooted in our heritage. Alive in the present. Ready for God’s future.

We’d love to see you there.

Before Jesus preached a sermon, performed a miracle, or went to the cross, the Father spoke these words:

“This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

What if you’ve spent your life trying to earn something God has already given?

Our readings this morning from Matthew 3:13–17 and Romans 5:8 remind us that through Christ, we don’t live for God’s delight—we live from it.

How might your life change if you truly believed you were already loved, already welcomed, already called His?

Today on this First Responders Day, we give thanks for the police officers, firefighters, paramedics, emergency workers and volunteers who serve our community with courage and compassion.

We are blessed to have first responders worshipping alongside us at Brisbane City Temple. If you know a first responder, take a moment to thank them today and keep them in your prayers.

Lord, bless and protect all first responders. Grant them wisdom, strength, safety and peace as they serve others. Comfort their families and remind them that their service is valued and appreciated. Amen.

And when you meet a first responder this week, simply say: “Thank you.”

Imagine God had a Facebook reaction to you.

What would it be?

😐 “Must try harder.”
😒 “Again?”
😬 “This could go badly.”
🤔 “We’ll see…”

Or would it be something completely different?

Many of us carry around an image of God that is disappointed, distant, or merely putting up with us. But what if the truth is far more beautiful than that?

This week’s message explores the incredible promise of Zephaniah 3:17—that God doesn’t simply tolerate His people. He delights in them. He rejoices over them. He even sings over them.

💃 “He will take great delight in you… He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Take a few moments to watch the message, then join the conversation below.

👇 When you wake up in the morning, what’s your first thought about how God sees you?

👇 And what difference would it make to your day if your first thought was: “God delights in me”?

May this message turn our hearts toward the God who is holy, just, loving—and who delights in His children more than we often dare to believe.

🎥 Watch the message below and join the conversation. We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Welcome to church.Today we are talking about God who delights in us.
