The Foundational and Fundamentals!

Through wisdom a house is built,
And by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches (Prob 24:3-6, NKJV)

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalms 11:3, KJV).

Sometimes, when I speak about foundational and fundamental items as being different, people ask why so.

Using a dwelling building structure for analogy. It is fundamental for a dwelling building to have access to at least a toilet, bathroom, cooking area and roof. These are fundamental items. As fundamental as these are, they only underscore the quality of life that the dwellers might derive from using the facility, not the integrity of the facility.

The building foundation on the other hand does determine the integrity of the facility. If compromised, the building will fail.

The differences nonethesless, both integrity and quality of life are vital for fulfilling the purpose of the building as a dwelling place.

As a corrolary, in our lives, there are foundational items as distinct from fundamental items, but both categories are vital for fulfilment.
