Proudly part of the Uniting Church in Queensland, our purpose is for First Peoples to be autonomous and live freely in decision making, as we minister to First Peoples and engage all peoples in theological, culturally safe and holistic ways.

Join First and Second peoples of the Uniting Church in Australia, Qld and Vic/Tas Synods, as we explore justice and reconciliation, and our walk into the future. I write this post on Yuggera Ugarapul lands, and I acknowledge the sorrow of Yuggera Elders and community this morning, as Victoria Park (Barrambin) now becomes a construction site. This is not a political statement; it is a statement of care for community and Country.
Where does justice reside in all decision making?
What does justice informed reconciliation at a local level look like?
What forward legacy are we writing together?

It will be my pleasure to discuss what All in for Reconciliation means with;
Lachlan Walker, Personal Carer and young adult member of Zillmere UAICC Church
Austin Mann, Law and Justice undergraduate and young adult member of The Gap Uniting Church
Natalie Clements, Social Justice and Advocacy Specialist, Qld Synod
and
Timothy Molineux, Social Justice Officer, Vic/Tas Synod

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. Now there were devout Jews from every people under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.” All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” But others sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.””

FOR OUR MOTHERS
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her happy; her husband, too, and he praises her:”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭26‬-‭28‬ ‭NRSVUE‬‬

To our mothers and mothers mothers we say thank you, and pray for God’s many blessings to you on this day.

We see you holding the emotions of others, but will never know the extent of the pain endured, or know the fullness of the many joys, of being you with your children.

May you know the presence of love directed towards you today and always.

Through Christ our LORD
AMEN

Our deepest respects to you Uncle Pastor Ray Minniecon. Thank you for standing proud amidst such inexcusable hatred. Thank you for the story your family holds, not just of military service to the country, but to spiritual service and healing. What people may not know, is this large family spans our nation, serving and encouraging people in suffering and hardship, who are seeking comfort and renewal. This family, like many of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families are Christian and Spiritual Leaders, who look hatred in the eye and say brother / sister why are you so angry - and will pray for them. This does not make them saintly, it makes them obedient to our cultural protocols of respect in all relationships - especially those who would see us as lesser.

The Inquiry into Racism and Violence towards First Peoples of this nation is necessary, and the Uniting Church in Qld sent our recommendations to our National Assembly only yesterday. But, this Country needs all people within this nation to say no more, and to speak up against racism and hatred. Our children and their children deserve better from us.
Blessings to all for a peaceful day of remembering and dreaming of what we can be, if we choose it and act upon it. ✝️🙏🏽

Pastor Sono Weatherall preached on the daily practices of know and being a person of the Word.
“When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart,”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭13‬ ‭NRSVUE‬‬

God is calling all our peoples to take up their blessings and take their place of discipleship learning in Christ - which will lead our ways of worship, and witness into our new written legacy.

Do not be afraid of what God has for planned for you. 🙏🏽🙌✝️

Merry Christmas to all across our communities, and may you experience Christ’s love during this Holy Week. For those who are experiencing sorrow, may you search for the strength to call out in prayer, or call the kind souls who offer an ear to listen and word of wisdom to share.

Luke 1:68-79
New International Version
68 “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has come to his people and redeemed them.
69 He has raised up a horn[a] of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David
70 (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),
71 salvation from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us—
72 to show mercy to our ancestors
and to remember his holy covenant,
73 the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,
and to enable us to serve him without fear
75 in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,
78 because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
79 to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

Thanks be to God. AMEN
