What you're about to watch is more than just old film footage—it's a living memory of Molfetta, its people, and a way of life that many still hold close to their hearts.
Captured by our late Uncle Lorenzo Altamura, this remarkable film preserves moments that might otherwise have been lost forever, allowing us to revisit the sights and spirit of a much-loved Molfetta.
This precious footage takes us back to a Molfetta of another era, capturing the churches, buildings, streets, markets, people, cars, horse and carts, La Villa, the famous Gelateria Cipriani and the beautiful winding streets of Molfetta Vecchia (Old Molfetta). It is a rare glimpse into everyday life and a community that shaped so many of our families and traditions.
We acknowledge that this video may contain images of loved ones who have since passed away. As we watch, may we honour their memory, celebrate their contributions to our community, and remember the values, stories, and traditions they passed on to future generations.
A very special thank you goes to Michael Altamura, whose foresight and dedication ensured these priceless films were preserved rather than lost to time. Through his commitment, patience, and countless hours of work, these treasured memories have been safeguarded, digitised, and shared with our community so they can be enjoyed by generations to come.
And on a personal note...
🎉 Happy Birthday, Dad. This one is for you. 🎉
