VERSE
Romans 5:10 (KJV) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

INSPIRATION
If someone is actively working against you, it is difficult to accomplish anything that you want to. Now imagine that person starts working with you. You can accomplish so much, much more than if you were simply working alone. Our relationship with God is the same: we were His enemies before He mercifully sent His son to guide us. Now we have the option of being on the same side. The choice is simple.

PRAYER
Loving God, my strength and light in the world, I rejoice in Your love. With this prayer I hope to thank you for sending Jesus to live and die for us, for we would truly be lost without him. Give me the wisdom to follow You more closely, love more dearly, and trust everything else to You. In your name I pray, Amen.

VERSE
Psalms 100:4-5 (KJV) Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

INSPIRATION
Psalms is a rich and beautiful repository of verses extoling the truth, love and joy of knowing our Lord God. Rejoice!

PRAYER
Thanks and praise be to You Lord, for offering Your salvation to the world, so that all may enter Your Heavenly Kingdom and exalt Your name in honour and glory. Thanks you Lord, for whom I rejoice at the gates of Your Heavenly Kingdom, rejoicing with Your Disciples in singing David’s psalms. At the feet of Your throne, I give my thanks for Your mercy everlasting. Blessed be thy name, the power and the glory. Amen.

VERSE

Luke 9:23 (KJV) And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

INSPIRATION

We have sacrifices that we need to make to, as we choose to follow Christ. There are many worldly activities we have to give up, as they are not in line with what God has ordained us to do. Sometimes we have to leave certain friendships or relationships because they end up trying to pull us away from Christ. The joy in these sacrifices is that God always acknowledges them and they won’t go unrewarded.

PRAYER

Dear God, I acknowledge that there are things in my life that I may have to let go of as a result of my choosing to follow your way. Lord, I ask that you give me the strength I need to be able to let go, and may you comfort me in any time I feel pain. I thank you, Lord, that there is a greater glory ahead, that makes these sacrifices worthwhile. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

(((GOD, ENLIGHTEN YOUR HOLY CHURCH)))

((DOES IT INSPIRE US TO THINK OF JESUS CHRIST' SAVING ACT AND TURN OUR MINDS TO PRAYERS OF GRATITUDE))

(VERSE)
John 3:16-17 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

(INSPIRATION)
John 3:16 is one of the most well-known verses in the New Testament. I have seen it on billboards and on banners at sports events. I always wonder if the people who post it, or the people who read it, actually take the promise to heart or even know what it means! Jesus came so that the world would be saved through his sacrifice on the cross. This passage follows one of Jesus speaking with Nicodemus, a Pharisee who came to Jesus at night because he was afraid to be seen by the other Pharisees, and telling him that he must be lifted up just at Moses lifted up the bronze serpent so that those who looked at him would receive eternal life. What do we feel when we read this passage? Do we know it so well, that we take it for granted? Does it inspire us to think of Jesus’ saving act and turn our minds to prayers of gratitude? How deep is our belief? What are we willing to do in order to have eternal life? Nicodemus went to Jesus in the night out of fear. Are we willing to witness our faith in the light, or do we hide it from others out of fears of our own? Jesus only asks that we believe, and live our lives according to that belief. In the end, Nicodemus showed that he was one of Jesus’ disciples by bringing myrrh and aloes for Jesus’ burial. We have looked upon him lifted up on the cross. How can we come into the light to show that we too choose eternal life?

(PRAYER)
Loving Father, you want all your children to be saved and so you sent your only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to accomplish this. May we never take this gift for granted. Amen

((LAST DISCOURSE))

(IF YOU OR I KNEW WHEN WE WOULD DIE, WHAT WOULD WE WANT TO TELL THOSE WE LOVED ?)

(VERSE)
John 17:1-2 (KJV) These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

(INSPIRATION)
The Last Supper was Jesus’ last opportunity to teach his apostles. This is only one passage of what is referred to as the “Last Discourse.” In this passage however, he reveals the promise of eternal life to those who believe in him. He goes on to say that eternal life consists in that we know God as the only true God, and that we know that he sent Jesus into the world. It was at this time that he told the apostles that he was leaving them to go and prepare a place for them. He stressed that he wanted us to be one in faith. He gave us the command to love others as he loved us. He told them much more but also told them that he had much more to tell them but they couldn’t “bear” them now. He promised to send the Spirit of truth who would guide them to all truth. Of course, this is only one part of this most important night. He offered himself in the bread and the wine; he washed their feet and told them that they must do the same. He predicted both the betrayal by Judas and the denial of Peter. He warned them that they would run away when he was arrested. So much happened in so little time! I wonder if they took it all in. If you or I knew when we would die, what would we want to tell those we loved? Would we let them know how much we loved them? Would we ask forgiveness for the times we had hurt them? Would we tell them not to worry, that we had no fear of dying, that we trusted in Jesus promises? What would we do?

(PRAYER)
Lord Jesus Christ, on this special night you gave us gifts of hope and love as you approached the final day before your death. You conquered sin and death for us, may we be grateful for your gifts and live lives worthy of receiving them. Amen

(VERSE)
Romans 8:13-14 (KJV) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

(INSPIRATION)
If we live according to the fleshly, sinful desires, simply to please ourselves, we are walking in spiritual death. If we put to death the deeds of the flesh by the power of the Spirit of God within us, then we walk in spiritual life. While the Spirit begins this change in us, the renewed heart and mind then cooperate with Him willingly, though still relying on His power alone to kill the old, sinful nature.

(PRAYER)
O God, we are still afflicted by the presence of sin in our hearts. We still suffer from false ideas and attitudes in our minds. We still struggle to will and do of your good pleasure. We know it is You who work in us to bring about a change to holiness in our hearts, but we long for it and strive for it with all our might. Help us to walk in Your life and to put to death all sinful desires. Amen

(VERSE)
2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV) But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

(INSPIRATION)
Here we see a great truth about the acquisition of Christlikeness by the believer. He beholds, contemplates, sees by faith the glory of Christ. And where is that found? It is found in God's Word! And beholding the glory of Jesus Christ, he is changed little by little into His image. But not automatically, but by the Spirit.

(PRAYER)
Help us to think and dwell on the glory of Christ, O Lord. Help us to see it in your Word and to see it with the eye of faith. Change us from "glory to glory" by your Spirit, in the way that Paul refers to in this precious and powerful verse. Amen

(VERSE)
John 17:18 (KJV) As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

(INSPIRATION)
Just as Jesus was sent into the world, we have been sent to do the same thing again. We have been called to preach the gospel and point all of the lost to the way of Christ. We should never think we are to live for our own selfish desires. We have been called to be the light of the world.

(PRAYER)
Dear God, I pray that I do as your son did – preach the world and call all men and women unto salvation. May I never slack in what I was called to do, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

((BUT WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM?))

(JESUS IS WAITING FOR YOUR ANSWER, WHO DO YOU SAY THAT HE IS TODAY?)

(VERSE)
Mark 8:27-29 (KJV) And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

(INSPIRATION)
This is my favorite Gospel passage for meditation, and I challenge you to give it a try. Each time I read it I stop and think about it. Jesus is walking along the road with his disciples and he asks them the question, “Who do people say that I am?” They give him a variety of answers, and then he asks them, “But who do YOU say that I am?” Peter answers for the apostles and says, “You are the Christ.” Christ is the Greek word for “the anointed one,” another way of saying that Jesus is the Messiah. And now for us! Who is Jesus for you and me? I have had people tell me that Jesus was a good man. Others might respond a good friend, and still others their Savior or their King. If Jesus is our Savior or King, what does that mean? I would ask that sometime today you find a quiet spot and picture yourself walking along a dusty road with Jesus and the disciples. Perhaps you are there because someone you know was healed; maybe because someone told you about this great teacher. At some point on your journey, Jesus turns to YOU, looks you straight in the eyes, and asks you, who do you think he is? If you are like me, every time I think about it, it’s a little different because I am in a different place in my life. Some days, I need him to be a friend as well as Savior and King. Other times I need a brother who understands how painful life can be. Other times I just want someone to listen to my fears and concerns. This passage from Mark is a little different from the one in Matthew, but we can discuss that one at a different time. And so, Jesus is waiting for your answer, who do you say that he is today?

(PRAYER)
Lord Jesus Christ, you are my saviour, my brother, my friend. Without you, I am nothing. May you always be the centre of my life. Amen
