RAMADHAN DAY 1️⃣1️⃣
THE DANGER OF HURTING HEARTS WHILE ASKING ALLAH FOR MERCY
My dear brothers and sisters,
How can a servant raise his hands to the sky asking Allah for relief, while he has crushed someone’s heart on the earth?
How can we beg Allah for mercy, rizq, success, marriage, promotion, healing — while someone is secretly crying because of our words, our betrayal, our ظلم (oppression)?
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“And your Lord is not unjust to His servants.” (Qur’an 41:46)
If Allah is not unjust to His servants, then how dare we be unjust to one another?
The Dangerous Contradiction
There is a dangerous contradiction in the heart of the believer when he hurts someone intentionally — with full awareness — and then turns to Allah saying, “Ya Allah, answer my du‘a.”
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Beware of ظلم (oppression), for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Muslim)
Oppression is not only physical harm. It is emotional harm. It is betrayal. It is humiliating someone. It is exposing someone. It is breaking trust. It is manipulating someone. It is abandoning someone unfairly.
You may forget what you said.
But the heart you broke does not forget so easily.
And Allah does not forget at all.
The Du‘a Blocked by Injustice
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said:
“Allah gives respite to the oppressor, but when He seizes him, He does not let him escape.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
Sometimes we wonder:
Why is my du‘a delayed?
Why is my life heavy?
Why are doors closing?
Perhaps somewhere, someone is saying:
“Ya Allah, You are Just. Take my right from the one who hurt me.”
And the du‘a of the oppressed has no barrier between it and Allah.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Fear the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah.” (Bukhari)
Think deeply about this.
While you are asking Allah for promotion,
the one you humiliated is asking Allah for justice.
While you are asking Allah for marriage,
the one you deceived is asking Allah for relief.
Whose du‘a will rise first?
May Allah purify our hearts from ظلم. May Allah make us people who heal, not harm. May Allah forgive us for the pain we caused knowingly and unknow
